Our home town of Ambach is located directly on Lake Starnberg. The scenic charms of the foothills of the Alps invite you to extensive excursions and hikes. Private bathing beach
With a length of 20 km and a depth of 128 m, Lake Starnberg is the second largest lake in Bavaria. The magnificent view of the Bavarian Alps and the numerous stately villas and castles along the shore make the lake a landmark. As a guest of our house you can enjoy the advantages of our private beach.
Boat trips
Enjoy the uniquely beautiful panorama of the Alps from the lake. A trip by ship opens up wonderful, new perspectives. The leisurely pace and the grand ships are the perfect complement to a sunny day on Lake Starnberg.
Hiking & Cycling
Start your tour directly at the house and enjoy the well-developed cycle paths around the lake and through the foothills of the Alps. Ambitious cyclists and hikers are drawn directly to mountain biking and hiking on the nearby peaks. From April to October you have the opportunity to rent bikes at the Landhotel Huber.

Fishing
Around 25 different types of fish make Lake Starnberg an excellent fishing area. Fishing on Lake Starnberg is only permitted with a valid fishing license.

Golfing
The golf courses in the area also benefit from the wonderful view and the natural design. Framed by the stately mountains and surrounded by green pastures and forests, the greens seem to go straight into the mountains.

Glentleiten
Around 40 buildings, including farms, mills, alpine pasture buildings and workshops, were rebuilt in a charming pre-alpine landscape with forest, pastures and historic gardens. Our impressive surroundings still offer many attractions, in every season. Our friendly, local staff will be happy to advise you at any time.

As a place of encounter and orientation, Andechs Monastery with its brewery, Bräustüberl, monastery inn and last but not least because of its rich cultural offerings is a magnet for visitors from all over the world.
The Starnberg lake
On the trail of the myth surrounding Kini Ludwig II. “I want to remain an enigma for myself and others forever,” Ludwig once wrote to his governess, and this enigmatic fascination still fascinates people today. The shy dreamer, the antithesis of a bourgeois king, is still present today as “der Kini” and is revered as an idol.
His castles, which no stranger should ever enter, have become more popular since the death of Ludwig II than 50 million people visited.
